Paprika house

The Paprika House present the success story of the world-famous ’red gold of Kalocsa’. Visitors can get acquainted with the past, the production and use of spice paprika. The exhibitions illustrate some of the implements and working process of growing paprika in the Kalocsa Region. Tourists can see traditions which are typical of rural production of paprika even nowadays. Growing, transplanting, hoeing, ploughing and manual harvesting of the plants are done in the traditional ways and with century-old implements. The stages of manual processing (drying, smashing, nipping and grinding) preserve the traditions and at the same time guarantee the manufacture of exquisite spice paprika, the real Hungarian product.
